Take care of the Georgian land

Georgia as a natural museum of soils in the open air

A country covered in the heart of the warm southern sun - Georgia is distinguished by countless natural wealth. It is amazing that in this small area there are many man-made sights, and in this article we will talk about one of them - the soils of Georgia.

In Georgia, as in any other country, soil is an essential resource for life, food and economic purpose. It is used both for arranging agricultural beds and for cattle grazing.

In general, the formation of soils is influenced by many factors, such as: climatic conditions, tectonic changes, vegetation, the presence of various mineral elements, bacteria and other living organisms. The diversity of the earth's soil covers many types, among which we can distinguish clay loams, sandy loams, peat bogs, etc. Georgia is a unique country where almost all types of natural soil are located. That is exactly why it is called "natural museum of soil in the open air".

Indeed, as if in a small country, eight types of soil are distinguished, which our ancestors successfully mastered centuries ago and their knowledge

handed over to us. With their diligent work, the country's cultural traditions, winemaking and cooking were formed step by step in Georgia.
Thus, the moist peaty soils of the plains of Western Georgia proved to be useful for moisture-loving corn, and the tendency to grow grapes, tea and tobacco crops spread on the red and yellow soils of the foothills.

The slopes of Eastern Georgia allow the cultivation of grain crops, fruit trees and vegetables. On the fertile black soils of Kakheti, we have both grain beds and world-famous vineyards.

The southern part of Georgia with its mountain-meadow soils is largely used for growing grain crops and vegetables.

With the help of this article, we want to draw attention to the natural possibilities of our small country, which we will talk about in the future.
